Spare Tire Lock

Need some advice and have probably ignored/missed the obvious.
Whats the best way to get the rubber boot protector on the spare
tire lock? I already ruined one rubber boot.

Did you try putting the boot in boiling water first? Don H.

Great suggestion - I managed to scoot my cover over my 63 lock without damage - guess I was lucky...

I just slowly stretched mine on! I also had my lock re-keyed to match ignition on my 64.

I found an "old school" locksmith that re-keyed my spare tire lock in about 6 minutes for $9; I had psyched myself up to think I'd have to hunt down some vintage lock specialist...
