    Nice touring tires

I went back and checked before I posted this. I noticed the Goodyear tires looking brownish on my 68 coupe. Looked up when they were purchased and it was 2005. The tread is almost new, not many miles on them but 13 years is too old for me. Has anyone purchased tires recently and are happy with them ? This is a Goodyear LS Blackwall 225/70/15. Thanks,Jeff

Unless you are going racing I would buy a set of blackwall tires from Walmart Any brand and drive it They will dry rot before they wear out No more expensive tires for me

I have a set of Hankook all season radial tires on my '64 that are very good. I think they make your size and they were about $90/tire.

For driving/touring, I agree with Jimmy.

As indicators of quality, look for the best UTQGS ratings for speed, temperature, traction. For low mileage use, don't worry about the mileage rating.

Last time (5 years ago) I chose Goodyear for a more stock look. They were $300 out the door for a set, with an S speed rating and A B for temperature/traction. Not very impressive but that was the best I found at the time. They're minivan tires but ride smooth and quiet.

Pretty much the worst tire you can buy today is better than any tire made in 1968. I've got 20 year old tires on one of the 63's with about 2000 miles on them. Due to age they are not safe. So, low cost is what I am looking at also.

Uniroyal tiger paws are a good all around tire about 75. bucks , remember that there is a safety part of tires, stopping is also is a something to think off. I myself have had those moments where someone darts out. stopping in a shorter distance is something to consider, diving these old cars and expensive cars to repair, safety first guys. cheap is not always the better. A cheap tire to a mid range tires is about 10 to 15 bucks more each tire.

I run the Uniroyal Tigerpaw AWP II whitewalls on the 63. Ride quiet, handle well and wear superbly (Uniroyal is also an OEM manufacturer so you get a few judging points). I've heard rumors they're no longer being made; haven't confirmed that and you can still buy them...
