    Re: Whereabouts of Rich Pasqualone?

Font size of the "M" on repros is not the same as an OEM "M".

      Ed,

And there's a difference in the length of the middle downward V segment of the M.

Richard Fortier should be able to fill your order, as well.

My 63 had some "M" bolts on it but mostly "TR"s....and yes the font is definitely thinner and less defined on the repros:

            Hi Gary,

It's not often that I'm thoroughly satisfied with an order from a parts vendor. But just recently I ordered 2 air conditioning parts for my '66 from David Sokolowski. A compressor bracket and an interior duct. Both were fine examples. No issues. This was my 3rd order with him.

For many years I'd been searching for a matching "3 Dot" head mark evaporator screw that was missing from my '66 evaporator box when I bought it in '88. I knew in the past that David wasn't selling his bolts/screws. He is now. I sent him an e-mail with detailed photos of one of my originals and BINGO, he had them! Exact match! I bought a complete set of four since he offered them up. A BEAR to find! I'd also included some shots of the two AC STV bracket screws that I needed. Voila! He had exactly what I wanted.

My '65 had a mixture of mostly "M" and "TR" shorter bumper bolts all around. Longer "RBW" bolts in the rear. Those black grade 8 "WB" long bolts up front. My '66 rear bumper bolts were short "TR". Longer bolts were "RBW" side by side on the edge of the bolt. The '66 front bumpers & brackets were missing in '88.

Let us all know what you come up with on that '64. What head marks you chose?
            Mike

For 64 the best choice would be WB.20190329_171129-1008x567.jpg20190329_171129-1008x567.jpg

Below is a picture of a bumper bolt I removed from my 1963.

Below is a reproduction bumper bolt as sold by Paragon.

Re: Best source for original bumper bolts?

                        Rich,

M's were a common headmark for some C2 years, but Paragon does not want to make a bumper bolt kit that is different for each C2 year. So it's one size fits all as far as Paragon is concerned. Also, the Paragon M does not look like the original M, which has a longer central leg that goes down to the font baseline.

Another problem exits for the lock washers Paragon sells with their C2 bumper kit, Three different sizes/finishes of bumper lock washers were used between '63 and '67, beginning with standard size in zinc, then changing to standard size, but unplated, then changing to thicker ("hi-collar"), unplated. But again, Paragon sells a one size fits all bumper hardware kit.

                        Gary
