      Leave it alone as a production anomaly. Do not be tempted to "correct" it so as to conform with current judging standards.

                      This is 100% correct !!!!
                      53 and early 54 cars - the tail light pod is cut out and easy to get your hand in to install the nuts and bulb
                      Later 54 cars they used a hole saw
