1969 Alternator Bracket Bolt Finish

Starting to assemble my frame off 1969 convertible. I attached the bracket that holds the alternator to the stud on the water pump and painted the engine. Now, the short bolt that attaches the bracket to the lower hole in the manifold is black. Since the manifolds are not on the car when the engine is painted this bolt could not be painted when the bracket is painted ? My question/confirmation is ' this bolt is black or natural ?'

It's a phosphate finish which varies from medium gray to near black.
