1967 Conv top lid underside pads?

The lid that covers the convertible top when it is down- has 2 foam pads on the underside of the lid

Is this correct or has it been added over the years ?

    Thanks Bob

Anti-rattle pads. I think they fell off and disappeared so quickly that few people know they ever existed. Of course Mike does.
here they are on my 65. Unpainted, old yellow condition.

don's photo of the pads is right on. the pads were probably milk white in color initially but yellowed with time. they were glued on the underside of the lid with a glue similar to that used for door/hood etc weatherstrips. my 65 , which i bought in 1970, had the pads present when i first discovered them in the mid 70's. they eventually fell down into the soft top compartment. they were about 1" cubed. mike

The rattle pads on mine are quite bit larger, they cover that entire indentation that your 1" square is in. They look very
evenly cut to fit, look like factory 4/3/67 build AO Smith car Are all 67's that 1" or mabie somebody aftermarket was making them some time ago, look like they have been on a LONG time. THANKS, I want it right.

Is it me or is $700 for a original 67 jack crazy ? How many points can that be ????

I cannot find a reference to these pads in my 67 Assembly Manual or in the 7th edition Tech Manual and Judging Guide. Were they phased out or eliminated after 65 ??

Greg Welsh's car is a 66. There is that much.

Mike, with you being #14 I am sure you have seen it all. There seems to be some discussion that the larger anti rattle pads I have may have been used in 65 or 66. SO, do I leave mine on with the chance they are original or remove them touch up the paint and reproduce the approximately 1" pads like on Dons green 65 ? Or remove them, repair the paint and call it a day.
                      THANKS, Bob #967
