1968 C3 Center Gauge Cluster Question

    Hello All,

I am currently doing some restoration work on my 1968 C3 coupe and have a question on the center gauge cluster. The cluster has a capacitor mounted to the clock base. According to my assembly manual, it shows that the capacitor spade connector is inserted in the top of the connector for the ammeter. Is this correct? Thank you for any info on this.

Yea verily that is a radio system capacitor and thats where it goes. That said make sure its a good capacitor and the lead does not short to ground (continuity to the outside capacitor case). You don't actually need it, it really doesn't do anything very useful. Its purpose is to reduce transient RF noise from the electrical system. There are a bunch of these scattered thoughout the electrical system. If your radio has been upgraded you don't need it at all. If you are having your car judged you ought to have it in there.
