First run through of the new 58-60 JG - Congrats to all participants. On the first scan, I couldn't find a discussion of the transition from 7300 FI units to 7320 units - please advise as to location. Thanks.

Re: 58-60 JG - FI sequence
Dan, I was more surprised NOT to find a transistion point from the 7300 to the 7320. As I recall the communication from Scibica (sp?) at Rochester, Chevrolet wanted to make the change to the 7320 until RPD resisted because of the inventory of early parts and plenums on hand. The Cunningham and Camoradi Corvettes appeared at Sebring with their original motors and 7300 units - pictures are available - so that accounts for #s 2538 and 3535. The three Cunningham cars ran Le Mans with DIFFERENT motors and 7320 units, including one with the now "infamous" alumminum head suffix, but without the heads. The Camoradi car retained its 7300 unit.
If there is no "segue" language that I have missed, has the JG Team chosen to ignore it?- Top

Re: 58-60 JG - FI sequence
Loren, I asked Frank this question several times over the years. The best answer he could come is this.
He said there were no records available but to his recollection not many '7300 units were used on the '60's as the ladies had trouble making them run.
Ladies put them together you know
So if one was writing a judging manual and had to state what you requested Loren it would be pure speculation. That's why I and others left the info out.
Wish I had a better answer as it's bothered me for ages. Good question. John- Top

Re: 58-60 JG - FI sequence
As stated, engine compartment photos of VINs 2272, 2538 and 3535 at Sebring are available. It would seem like Not a Large Leap in Logic that cars that were phone orders from MI and walked through the assembly process by the Resident Engineers (Phil Passon for one) would receive the Best Available. The Cunningham cars received New Motors for Le Mans, with the WO # stamped on the pad, and those motors were capped with 7320 units.
Can the current owner of the Noland Adam's Survey results tell us if the type of unit was called out on NA's survey questionaire? If it was, what are the results?- Top

Noland didn't have a survey form as such for the C1s or at least not for 1960 models. He kept a registry of these cars which consisted of accumulated correspondence with owners.- Top
