Best source for 1965 Corvette assembly instruction manual

I have a copy of Mid-America's 1965 Corvette Assembly Instruction Manual (A.I.M.). They claim it is the best copy available. Some pages are fine. Many pages are legible. Many pages are barely legible, particularly part numbers. And a lot of pages are partially, or totally non-legible, either part numbers are drawings. Can someone do better? I understand that this goes back to the pre-digital age, but rather than relying on photo-copies of photo-copies of some hard-copy, might there be microfiche files of this original information lurking somewhere (in the bowels of GM or with University libraries or professional literature collectors)?

Just lookin for a better copy.

Contact the Revs Institute digital library in Naples Florida.
They have a very extensive digital collection of automobile
literature and may be able to help you.

Thanks Jaime. Nothing in their files like this; but, I have found another place to browse for hours in my retirement.

Google Dave Graham Literature, they have decent digital AIM copies on CD (951) 340-0770

I bought a printed AIM about 25 yrs ago for a 1966 and it was just as you described. Some pages were pretty much illegible. I recently bought a digital version that is really good from Dave Graham Auto Literature (many suppliers sell it) and its great. You can enlarge the pages on screen and get a really good view of the part numbers as well as the assembly pictures. It's not perfect, but I'd guess it's >>98% readable. The cases where I couldn't discern the part number, I was only unsure about one of the numbers so far...

Gary and Robert - thanks for posting this. I have been struggling to read torque specs and part numbers the last year assembling my 65 chassis. I just ordered the CD directly from the company.

Any tips on how to find the page I need. I just did the exhaust and had to find the info on 3 different pages and they were spread apart a bit almost randomly.

                Mark,

Several vendors have AIM indexes - see link below. Don't remember mine costing this much.

I purchased a 1964 AIM - it is pretty decent, quite readable but the index was horrible - incomplete and incorrect. I created one that makes finding a part assembly extremely easy. Feel free to circulate it as much as you like -- it's FREE!

                    Elliott,
I think i have a 65 AIM in a three ring binder at home that you can have. I have no use for it. The former 67 Team Leader gave it to me years ago and i have held on to it. It's yours for free if you want it. ARA

not digitally scanned and are now lost in the wind.)

With that, I was not willing to invest another $30.00 in a CD of the same illegible stuff.

Now Ara, if you would do me the favor of looking at that old copy of the 1965 Corvette A.I.M. that you have, and compare it to the specific page examples I have attached, I would love to have the copy if it is really significantly better. Please let me know the shipping costs to CA 95032. If it is no better, best put it in recycling.

I can see how these assembly manuals are critical to NCRS and its members, and hopefully someday, someone will come up with an original manual or microfiche that can be digitally scanned, to provide high quality manual reproductions. I am not alone in my disappointment.

Elliott- The CD is NOT perfect, but perhaps better than what you have. Take a look and compare... your decision.

Glad to assist... but remember I indicated it was NOT all perfect (several pages on the multi-year CD are difficult to read).

Re: Best source for 1965 Corvette assembly instruction manual

At the risk of beating a dead horse to death, I am at heart a 20th century kinda guy. I am computer literate, but I have a Dell maxiPad PC on my desk, no laptop or smart phone. The maxiPad is hard to get down on the garage floor for checking things out. Has anyone obtained a 1965 Corvette A.I.M. manual from any vendor (forgetabout phooie vendor) that has printed pages comparable to the excellent pages shown by Jack from his CD? If so, would you please share that vendor with me? Just call me Oldschool, but I prefer the printed page to study. A nice double-sided paper copy beats having to print out the whole bloody thing. Thanks again.
