Over they years I've noticed some cars have a seperate piece on top of the bracket that the spring hooks into as shown in the photo. Other cars do not have the piece, and hook into a hole in the bracket. The Judging Guide makes no mention of this separate piece. Curious as to what other owners have or have seen. My car is a December '68 L71. Thanks, Chris

Re: 68-69 Tri-Power throttle return spring bracket
Chris,
The 1969 Corvette AIM (UPC L71, Sheet A6) lists Bracket # 3972626 (formerly Bracket # 3960647 in the Revision Records dated 11-18-68) that attaches to the Pull Back Spring # 3972631 (formerly Spring # 3939748 dated 11-18-68 and then formerly Spring # 3937913. Who knows when the actual change was made on the assembly line.
The bracket in the drawing, however, is different than in your photo.

Re: 68-69 Tri-Power throttle return spring bracket
My previous 69 427/400 tripower car had a separate bracket similar to the one in your photo.
IIRC, it had an extra "foot" to prevent it from rotating.Attached Files1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: 68-69 Tri-Power throttle return spring bracket
Chris,
Is your car A/C? That bracket appears to be p/n 3939750 found in AIM C60 sh C6. Along with a very rare special bracket for the solenoid a throttle return bracket is added as part of the A/C solenoid equipment.- Top
