I have a recently purchased 65 Coupe. The steering columne was pulled out and all of the guts were replaced. Before the replacement of the parts not everything worked as it should but now I have different issues. When the right turn signal is put on the rear turn signal works and the left back up comes on ( I think the front grounds aren't good which stops them from working). When I put the left turn signal on, the horn honks. If I push on the horn I can't tell if anything is happening. To say the least I'm lost for where to start.

Re: 65 turn signal issues
Sounds like whoever replaced your turn signal switch hosed it up. The wrong switch could have been used, or the ribbon harness running down from the switch thru the bell and under the column could be pinched or cut. Start by looking at the column connector under the dash. Do the wire colors on each side of the connector match? If not, separate the connector, pull the wires that don't match on the column side and insert into the correct slot in the connector. use a very small flat blade screwdriver to bend down the little lock tab on the contact in the connector shell so you can pull out the wire and contact. Replacement turn signal switches come with the crescent shaped connecter on them, but some shops don't know how to install them without removing the connector shell and then they put the wires in the shell wrong after feeding them thru the bell & sleeve under the column. If none of the wire color codes match up you have the wrong switch. You may have to remove the column to fix this, depends how badly hosed up.- Top
