Tips for installing a 71 BB A/C radiator....

Helping a fellow member install the recored radiator in his 19k mile 71 BB roadster with air tomorrow morning...

It was a monster to get out, we loosened the 2 lower rad support bolts and removed the top 4, but the clearances were TO tight when you consider not wanting to damage either the original paint on the car or the NOS core.

    Question?
Should we remove the hood and remove the 2 lower rad support bolts?
Thus allowing the support to move forward in order to gain more clearance in front of the pass side A-arm for the lower hose snout on the radiator?
    OR
    We are open to suggestions

In addition to what you have done, GM service manual says to remove the hood on an A/C car, only loosen the two lower support bolts, remove receiver/dehydrator mounting bolts, back out left front hinge to body bolt. Tilt support rearward. Also, I'm assuming you either removed the fan shroud or unbolted it and pulled it towards the engine. Good luck, have fun. In my experience C3 radiators are always a pain and you will have trouble on the lower outlet on the passenger side.

Edward outlined the process which is in the CSM. There are also several threads on this topic.

The CSM doesn't mention removing the condenser, but I did to gain enough clearance.
