      I used the Mr. Gasket adapter - so I'm not familiar with your adapter.

      The NAPA 1060 Gold filter (which is actually black) is a nice choice (I think they are rebranded WIX filters)...you can peel the NAPA label off and its at least the same color as the original canister...

              Believe the only difference in the filters is the PH 5 is conventional filter media and the PH 13 is synthetic filter media

                  Thanks Dick. I did a little more searching, and learned that the filters are the same basic size but the PH5 has an antidrainback valve and the PH13 does not. But it sounds like they are interchangable.

                  Can anyone provide an answer to my question about whether the                   the orientation (clocking) of the bypass valve matters? It can be mounted in two different 180 degree opposed positions? Thanks.

                      It goes next to the block & does not use a gasket.
