    Pat,

    What information?

DOT 240 is Regalite Plastics Corporation, Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts. AS-6 is just DOT glass code for "Vinyl Plastic".

Dave, thanks for your response. What I am trying to learn is this the markings that would be on an OEM Convertible top. We came across one at the New England Regional.
      Thanks again for your help.

Dave, just as a second issue, found this logo on a 1986 and it too is REALITE.
        Thanks

          Pat,

REGALITE "DOT 108" on that 1986 has that same Newton Upper Falls, MA location. Current web site for Robbins Convertible Tops (aftermarket) specifies their use of Regalite Ultrashield vinyl windows. I'm away from my books so no speculation on that "C 12" date code. Curious what date code was on that first window?

            Pat

Reading date codes on vinyl convertible rear windows:

1986-1993: AS6 ULTRALITE used an alphanumeric code - alpha month and two digit numeric year. e.g. "B 86" translates to "Feb 1986"

(Later C4 with glass windows, manufactured by AP Tech, used a "Dot" glass dating system)

            FYI

1953-1975 AS6 VINYLITE used 2 or 3 or 4 numbers for Month and Year

            C1 & C2: Used a 1 or 2 digit Month and a single digit Year.

            C3 (1968-75): Used a 1 or 2 digit Month and a two digit Year.

Dave, as usual, thank you for your input. I am attaching a photo of the top in question. I have been attempting to get a better photo from the owner.

                Pat,

                OK, so now I'm confused.

1984-86 Judging Guide says single letter alpha character for month and two digit numeric for year (like I posted above). Including an example decode of "A 86". No identification of DOT #. JG shows window code of "AS-1", should be "AS-6".

1987-89 Judging Guide says two letter alpha character, two digit numeric followed by a hyphen and two alpha characters. No explanation of what this string means. No example decode date. No identification of DOT #. JG shows correct window code of "AS-6".

1990-91 Judging Guide also says two letter alpha character, two digit numeric followed by a hyphen and two alpha characters. No explanation of what that string means. No example decode date. No identification of DOT #. JG shows correct window code of "AS-6". (Language is like 1978-89 JG)

1992-93 Judging Guide also says two letter alpha character, two digit numeric followed by a hyphen and two alpha characters. No explanation of what that string means. However, an example decode date is given: "E 92" for May 1992 (same format as 1984-86 JG). JG text does not seem to tie date code to "AADD-AA" string. DOT #240 is noted. JG shows correct window code of "AS-6".

                Happy hunting!

                  Re: C4 Convertible Top

As a side note, I've been tracking original 86 convertible tops for years. Some of the tops, including the black top on my 86, did not come with any markings.

Stephen, thanks for your input. I was able to photo a top from a 1986 recently and I am attaching the photos.
However, I have no idea if it is an original top.
