They were recalled and replaced. So originals are impossible to find.

I have a set of blackwall Firestone 500s on my 900 mile 75 of which 4 are original to the car. One self destructed years ago.

        Dear Robert,
I remember the Firestone 500 debacle very well. That was when I stopped buying Firestone tires made in the USA (a good customer since 1955). Even if I worked for Firestone (now Bridgestone) I would not wish to have any remembrance of those tires on my car, nor should your employer. I am just saying, from way back.

Robert, put white lettered Goodyear Steelgards on your car if you want the correct look. I believe those are being reproduced.

They're probably worth $150-200 each as show tires.

I once saw a Firestone 500 tire that had burst while it was on display and not even mounted on a vehicle. I would not want these tires on a vehicle even for show purposes only. I'll never understand how Firestone manufactured a tire like the 500. It had to be one of the most egregious examples ever of a manufacturing debacle.

                      Re: Goodyear vs. Firestone?

Basically all of these steel cord tires are in a continuous decay process from birth. By the time they are six years old they should be removed from service. I have had at two radial tire failures. The last on was on a 4 year old Uniroyal which Michelin stood behind and paid the $6800 repair bill.
After six years I don't think any tire manufacturer would be so supportive
