Question on the location of the flashers in a 69

    Guys,

I'm about to install the dash on my 69 and I have a question of where the flashers go. I've looked over the AIM and the JG and there two references I can see about the flasher. One points to a position on the passenger's side mounted near the kick panel and the other is a reference in the section on the optional radio that states the flasher and the required capacitor are mounted under the center console. Looking at my old and new harness though I only see one flasher that could go there. Please see the attached pics for reference. Does the flasher get relocated to the console area on radio equipped cars or am I missing something? And it seems to me that the location of the second flasher is supposed to be directly to the fuse box? I'm just not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Mike

My original owner 1969 with U-69 radio has the flasher mounted on the passenger side under-dash in the clip pictured. This is the flasher for the turn signals.

As I recall, the flasher on the fuse panel is for the emergency 4 way flashers.

Joe is absolutely correct regarding the function and the location of the flashers in question. I have seen some 1970-72 turn signal flashers located higher on the passenger side dash with C60 (air conditioning). On those cars it is out out sight and reach unless one removes the passenger side dash pad. If your 1969 has AC that may be a location for it. I believe it interferes with one of the AC ducts if it is mounted in the normal location, but I have never owned a C3 with AC, and I long ago gave up judging Interior, and I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn last night.

BTW: If you 1969 has the optional UA6 alarm system you will find another flasher in the jack storage compartment, but that is a separate wire harness.

My 69 has AC and radio and as Terry said, the flasher is higher up than without AC but I have always been able to get it out without removing the dash. If you have a radio then there is also a capacitor with a paper insulator that goes between the flasher and the plug (number 5 in your AIM drawing.
