    1970 overflow hose strap

Researching this and wonder if opinions have changed since the info I found in the archives. I have an original 70 front clip hanging In my garage. (Long story). Its a AC car, with the strap on the passenger front wheelwell.

I thought the AC car had the metal clip on the radiator for the hose.

454 AC cars have a strap on the inner fender for the hose that goes between the radiator and expansion tank. The overflow hose on the expansion tank doesn't have any straps.

Base engine AC cars route the overflow hose down from the radiator cap, so no strap on the inner fender. No expansion tank either.

    I don't know about L46 AC cars.

      Re: 1970 overflow hose strap

That was my understanding as well.
The core support on this clip is from a copper brass radiator. L46 and LT1 used the same radiator setup. Only difference would be AC on the L46 that the LT1 didn't have. I wonder if that could be the reason for the wheelwell strap on the front clip.
      Thanks Mark

On page 202 of the 6th Edition TIM&JG, it says...

Copper radiators with a cap have a clip attached to the rear of the passenger-side header tank to hold the overflow hose which is thin-wall rubber with no ribs or clamps. The clip will often have a two-letter broadcast code stamped into it. Currently, we do not know what those are. (See Fig. Ch 1.4) Through most of 1970 production, the clip is not used; instead the hose is routed through a strap attached to the inner fender panel. Very late 1970 production and all 1971 and 1972 production have this clip. (See Fig. Ch 1.3)

interesting. I have seen a ribbed hose on more than one occasion.
