Re: Ignition removal issue
David,
Will the lock turn clockwise without the key? Do you know the key is the correct key? If so, then...
As you describe, you need to get the lock cylinder turned to the lock position to be able to depress the lock release pin and then rotate further to remove the core. If that is not possible, the only option I know of it to drill out the core. Which will be messy. But as you also probably know, the fact that your lock face cap has two small holes instead of just one means it's not original and won't pass judging. If it were me, I would try my best to rotate the cylinder to the lock position by wiggling the key up and down, and/or in an out a bit, to encourage it to turn. If I was unsuccessful at that I'd drill it. Drill straight, don't use too large of a diameter drill, and don't drill so deep you damage the switch.

Re: Ignition removal issue
Dave, the chrome part with the two holes is just a press fit. It is possible that Bubba super-glued it on. Can you grab the chrome part with heavy duty needle nose and pull it off. As said, you need the one with one hole.
Unless the C1 part is different than a C2.
Good luck.

Re: Ignition removal issue
David,
Please let us know how you resolve the problem. If manipulating your key in the lock doesn't work, it's highly likely the core will have to be drilled out. By you or by a locksmith. The first time I drilled a lock I was nervous about damaging the case, but with a little care it can be done by anyone. The master key idea is unlikely to work. The master keys are a set of 64 "tryout" keys that are supposed to open 80% of Groove 15 locks, which is what yours is. I have used tryout keys about 5 times and have opened zero locks with them. So, in my experience the advertised 80% success rate is totally bogus.

Re: Ignition removal issue
Ok, so i ended up using my die grinder on the tabs that stick up on the key cylinder in order to get the switch out.
Then had to give up and drill it out. Both pretty easy chores.
Bought new repro items and those dont work either. The key cylinder has no ramp on it.
Does anyone have a used or new nos switch and key cylinder that they would part with for the right price?- Top

Re: Ignition removal issue
Ok, talked to David Sokolowski and he thinks he has what I need.
Has anyone done business with him. He only takes checks so I was wondering about
how long it takes to get things from him.
Anyone have an opinion on his service?
Thanks.- Top
