C! Brake cylinder finsih

Are the brake wheel cylinders natural cast finish or painted black. Mine look like they had black paint on them but someone might have sprayed all brake components black. They are the original cylinders.

The back side would have been blacked out during black out .Look at the picture in Noland Adams book page 126.I believe bleeders are cadmium and not painted. In the picture you can see the ends of hoses were not painted .
