C2 Diffrential date codes and judging ??

I noted in the 1966 NCRS Judging manual 5th addition on page 182 :


It states : "Judging Reference: The following information is not typically judged "



Then proceeds to give details on how C2 diff covers were dated ...

Diff Casting # 3871375 rear of cover upside down

Casting date is located just below the drivers side output flange
Cast date format M DD Y example L 3 5 would be Nov 3 1965

Why is this information not judged? It seems like most every other visible date(s) all over the car are judged.

It is the same with the transmission..........too many of our chassis judges are either old with bad knees or are to overweight to get that far under the Corvette without a lift.

Diffrential date code reading would be a crap shoot any way. You may be able to read them may not with all with all the years of rust, road grime. Had a ‘67 in the shop and you could not read the code because rust had taken care of it.

I spent 10 minutes one day, trying to get my cell phone to "hit the spot" on the bottom of a "c2" differential. I think I'm pretty agile, but I do understand what Bill M. had to say about this.
