Re: Corvette 1963 car #34 body tag question

With my body Tag A1, would be either August 1st week under system #1 (early) and then system #2 (production started) A1 would be Sept 1st week. But given such a low body number, it would have to be August 1st week. But the Vin is a little high, but when I took the frame off to be sand blasted and painted, and checked the bird cage, its an original body to the bird cage and rest of the car.
Plus the car had a shipping date of June 5th

so how did a high vin number get a low body number ????

My build date is Sept 5th 1962 with body #13
Dealler zone code 000-00 which means it went to GM for internal projects.
Also found a tag on the rear drivers side frame saying "Lab Frame 70"

Just seeing if anyone knew of extra bodies built but never installed durng the pilot line phase.
There was no 1963 Model Pilot Line. There were a few, about 6, pre production jobs that were built in Flint or elsewhere but not St. Louis.

There were no bodies built in St. Louis that were not married to a chassis.

I have no proof concerning the "Lab Frame 70" tag. However, I can attest to the following. Before A. O. Smith Granite City, Illinois received a release to produce the frame in quantity, a full dimensional inspection was required and approved by Chevrolet Central Office Quality Control. (I worked there in 1964 thru 1969) Chevrolet Central Office Quality Control did not have a surface plate large enough to inspect the finished frame. Chevrolet St. Louis did have a surface plate large enough to lay out (dimensionally inspect) a finished Corvette body at that time. The process for the approval of a finished frame allowing A. O. Smith to ship frames could have been accomplished by A. O. Smith laying out the frame witnessed by a Chevrolet Quality Engineer (I did this on other parts). The frame(s) so tagged could have easily been identified with the "Lab Frame" tag.

Interesting add. I sent it to FRANZ and other 63 collectors.

Is this car registered in Quebec with a Quebec vehicle registration colloquially called an ownership in English Canada?

Yes, its called a "registration "
And it passed the Quebec inspection 2 years ago. very hard to pass a Quebec inspection, they look at everything, right down to the washer squirter.
