I am looking forward to TAHOE REGIONAL. And enjoying the ''process of judging'' I am signing up to be a JUDGE of 56-57 cars.

Jim, When this thread last appeared in Jan. 2019 I pulled some old files and in spite of some skeptics I am convinced Infantio's car is the real deal. It is very likely the first 5 cars he mentioned probably explains the little known 5 RPO 565 optioned '57 Corvettes listed in final GM Production records. This RPO is never mentioned in the Black Book or NCRS.
Later Production Corvettes with an improved HD Brake & Suspension set up would evolve into RPO 684 and the 579D option would include air intake system. RPO 565 would disappear but occasionally appear (for unknown reasons) in later years. At one time I probably owned most of the prototype "O" parts including early 4 speed he mentioned. I believe most were developed in '56 and in all likelihood some are on these cars.

Dave: did the early t-10 have cast iron tail housing or aluminum like later 57 t-10s? Thanks mike

I believe what you say is true. The deeper we look at these old cars, the more we learn. The NASSAU SPEED WEEK race was on December 7, 1956

JIM JEFFORDS and Dr. DICK THOMPSON told me these cars all had the 4 speed transmissions, Fuel Injection, and whatever was the best Suspension and brake systems that ZORA and his team had. ENJOY THIS VIDEO OF THE RACE. NOTE THE FULL HUB CAPS ON THE WHEELS, SO MORE THAN LIKELY RPO 565 SUSPENSION YOU REFER DAVID.

NOTE THE DAMAGE TO DR. DICK THOMPSON'S # 15 CAR. Bill Lloyd owned the S400 Maserati that ran into the back of Thompson on the sandy exit of the 5 lap warm up race on Friday Dec 5. Sterling Moss was to drive the car on Sunday, which he did after the crew worked around the clock to replace the radiator and pound out the metal. This story is all documented in book BAHAMAS SPEED WEEKS by Terry O'Neil, and excellent read of history with fantactic photos and stories of the ''GLORY DAYS OF ROAD RACING''

I wonder where this car is today

Mike, The early 4 speed I had I am fairly certain had an aluminum extension housing (have photos somewhere). I do not believe it was an "O" part. The blue prints drawn October '56 show the extension housing as aluminum GM 4227. Interestingly, the main case print #3743443 drawn 10-1-56 show it as aluminum also. It's reference to layout #L-47050 #2 might refer to the '57 SS which did have an alum. case 4 speed.
As I am sure you are aware the Borg Warner T-10 was used by other car manufactures so there could be a cast iron extension housing.

I guess I can't keep up with the dates and timing of this thread and its answers and comments.
I would offer that I believe Joe Trybulec (VIN 775(?)) has an intact all-cast-iron T10 in his Nassau car, but my so-called #@%^&$* "filing system" refuses to yield it up.
Also, those requestors of "paperwork" would be well-advised to temper their requirements. This was the beginning of the Ed Cole era, folks, and if the little old '55 chev didn't get your attention, Stand By. The Rosenbergers, Sanders, Burrells, Duntovs, Clifts, etc., weren't there because they were good at dictation - they got it done. Any bets on how much "paperwork"
exists for Bob Clift's CM '54 Corvette with the current V8 and a 4 spd T-10 with a hundred holes punched in the nose? How about bets on how long it took Chev. Eng. to know about it whenever one of those components had a hiccup?

My Error my 1957 Corvette is not a RPO 684 it's one of 5 RPO 565 Corvettes

As I was looking for information on my 1957 Corvette E57S102276 and I think I was barking up the wrong RPO. As it turns out Chevrolet's end of production year numbers states there were 5 RPO 565 Corvettes in 1957 that had Heavy Duty Suspension and Brakes, with RPO 579C 283/283 and no ducting to the finned rear brakes and no Air Box to the Fuel Injection. If anyone has more information I would asperate a response. NCRS has reviewed all the research I've done for the last 2 years and concluded that the RPO 684 that I assumed was the correct Options on my Corvette were not available in February of 1957 and is going to deduct a lot of points if I try to have it Flight Grudged. Now there should be no deduction for the RPO 565 Optioned Corvette.
                        Thanks To All

Bob, You might want to slow down a little on any assumptions re: RPO 565, 684 585 etc.. My thread with this info still needs to be "battle tested". I have never seen your car or photos so I cannot confirm yea or nay what you might have. With that said the info you have provided does appear to be very possible. If you are having judged Good Luck!
