    C-2 Ash Tray

I recently replaced the boot in the consol of my 65 coupe. Everything seemed to go together fine but I can't get the ash tray in deep enough for the slide door to close. It feels like the ash tray isn't dropping down far enough. I've tried putting a new one in and the old one. Neither fit. Any thoughts appreciated.

Assuming the reproduction boot is the cause?

    Is it too shallow?

      It definitely seems like it.

Do you still have the previous one to compare dimensions?

Yes they seem to be the same.

Is there an air bubble between the body and the rubber?

                There doesn't appear to be.

I would double check the boot thickness. Someone has to have an original they will measure for you.
Then compare it to the one you have.
Not too long ago there was a post here and the members bypass hose clamps didn't fit the hose.
Traced it to a reproduction hose that was much thinner than the original.
                    Could be?
                    Best of luck
                    Rick

Try a little WD-40 to help push it down inside the rubber.
