That's great Rich. It's a win that it runs well and you preserved the unique configuration of this car.

Rich, good to hear. Glad to see you kept the Tri-Power Faith. Us 3x2 owners are sort of like the Marines: The Few, The Proud. Wear you Tri-Power ownership like a badge of honor. And enjoy the drooling whenever you pop the hood at a car show.

I believe the N.C.R.S. was built by thousands of stories like yours, you have taken full enjoyment (with some frustration) of the hobby.

Who rebuilt the carbs? I'm fairly local and have great contacts in LI if you need any further help?

Bob Zorn rebuilt the carbs. Do you know of him? A good friend and member here has a number of classic cars and has always used Bob.

Back in the 80s my buddy bought an Ontario orange/orange gut 427 435 stick car. He got so frustrated with the trips he traded a known local vette dealer (thief) straight up for a 4 barrel set up! Who made out on that deal. I still give him **** about it every time I run into him. He agrees he was young and stupid. He also had it painted Black. It was a good paint job Buuutttt...Car is nowhere to be found now. Our other buddy bought a 73 T top Canary yellow black gut stick car at the same time. He still has it. 50K original miles at last check. Smart.

The secondary carbs have a metering plate and if the gasket sandwich drys out or the surfaces are not flat they will loose their seal and fuel will leak out the transfer slots causing a rich condition. I have had the same problem on my 4160 holley.

That's the main reason I've never liked Holley carbs with secondary metering plates rather than secondary metering bodies. Also, I've never liked the fuel transfer tube utilized by most Holley 4 barrels with secondary metering plates.

I’m sure that’s what was wrong with both of my end carbs. They had not been rebuilt in a long time and the car sits all winter here in the northeast. I took the car to a show last evening. About 15 miles on the highway and local roads in 85 degree weather. And traffic on the way home. It ran great.
