In the pictures of the door post you can see the weatherstrip is not out to the edge but more in the middle . Should it be glued close the edge or in the middle. I have several pictures of original black metal push in button retainers for the weatherstrips . They are not all in the same locations and do not match the diagram in the AM.The doors on my car have one at the very bottom were the door curves . I suspect who ever was putting them in at the factory put them in were he wanted them .Last did the factory miter the weatherstrips at rear top of the door were in makes the sharp bend.

Dan, Here are some that may help. Sorry but I don't have a detailed close up of the door post top area.

Re: 1957 door weatherstrips and push in buttons
Dan, I have looked at a lot of original '56/'57's as well and have seen some random examples of button placement, but what Richard is showing above is very typical. I believe you said that yours was also like this. To my knowledge there was no explicit effort to mitre the cut at the top of the door that goes under the clip. If you find one that is mired, I sure it was not intentional. Certainly not exacting back then.Garry Barnes #18531

Re: 1957 door weatherstrips and push in buttons
Dan, here is another example of an original that with Joe T's. assumed permission I will share with you. You can see that the placement is slightly different than what you are proposing and or what Richard shows in his pictures. You may recognize this car, but if not, it does have the original weatherstrip as confirmed by me when I took these pictures several years ago.Attached FilesGarry Barnes #18531
