    96 OBD Port Cover

Did '96 LT1/LT4's come from the factory with a cover/cap on the ODB-II connector under the dash? If so, what is the part number? Earlier years had a cap/cover on the ALDL connector but I can't find reference to the bracket or cover in any diagrams for '96. As I am sure you are aware, '96 was the first year for OBD-II compliance.

    Re: 96 OBD Port Cover

Floyd, I am fairly certain the 96 does not have an OBD-II connector cover. I believe the cover went away with the 94 model year. The ALDL connector on the earlier cars were larger and had covers. I believe your 96 connector is smaller with no cover.

Okay Guys, here is a photo of the OBD-1 set up on my 1995 Corvette with a Build Date of August 4, 1994. No cover. This was the first day of normal production for 1995. It was the 139th 1995 Corvette produced in the normal 1995 production year.

The connector on my original-owner 96 LT4, June build date, looks just like the one in Pat Fullam's photo. No cover.

          Pat, et al-------

The diagnostic port cover was used from 1984-93 on Corvettes and other GM cars. It was not used after 1993. However, this cover was not tethered to the connector. So, there's a good chance that cars originally so-equipped have lost their cover over the years. GM part number was 10021766 but it's long-since GM discontinued.
