    Plug Wires

Where do you guys think is the best place to get some good Packard plug wires? Right now I have a set of Lectric Limited carbon wires and I have one that is open. Engine is a 1963 FI 375 unit and the wires have to be R-angle at the distributor. Engine is 327. The car will not be judged.

simply buy a roll of packard 440 wire, then use the boots and metal terminals off the electric limited repo are set. i solder the metal core of the 440's to the metal terminals. takes me about a day to make up a set. they are bullet proof compared to the carbon core repo wires. mike

Thanks Mike. I know that is what you did, I've read your posts and it sounds like the route to go. Do you know where you can get Packard wire these days?

          Dan,
You can buy it here by the foot. Less than $50 to do a complete set of wires.

Do you plan to use a radio or other audio device in the car? If so, you don't want to use solid core wire like Packard 440. If it was ever used on PRODUCTION vehicles, it has not been for at least 60 years.

I know what you mean about reproduction wire sets, though; I'm loathe to use them. I'd suggest looking for an NOS set of GM #12043775, aka ACDelco 538D plug wires. These have the "90 degree" distributor ends but they need to be installed by the user.

Yes Joe, I do have a radio, but there is not much on AM anymore. Conservative talk shows mostly. I have completely rebuilt the radio, just because I want it to work, which it does. I am mulling the idea as to weather to use solid core wires. I will look for a NOS set as you suggest.

                  Thanks,
