On our 1981 BG car I have removed the spare tire carrier. The carrier has some overspray on it. Nothing else does. The frame is clean, differential is clean. No other signs of overspray. In the Technical Manual the only mention of overspray is talked about in section relating to the bolt.
Item 15 page 107
"The spare tire carrier is supported in three places; by two natural finish 'J' supports which are suspended from the differential crossmember; and by one bolt at the rear of the carrrier. The bolt finish is silver cadmium or zinc, and should show no signs of paint overspray. "
Before I clean it off I am wondering if this would be factory or might the car have been repaired at some point. attached is a picture of what I am seeing. Thanks for any input!!
