    Vin tag replacement

We are in the process of a restoration of a 66 roadster and we're looking for an original VIN tag as the vehicle has a replacement tag from AZ assigned at some point in its life. Can anyone advise on a point of contact or process for getting this vehicle back to its original numbers?

    Re: Vin tag replacement

If you have the car judged and the judges notice that your vin. tag is not original to the car the car will be disqualified and the judges are pretty good at examining vin tags. I suggest you leave the AZ assigned tag in place it will be accepted by NCRS.

      Tim,
Leave the state issued tag on the car. If you go and find/replace it with a reproduction tag, and you present the car for judging it will get called. The state issue tag will fly through NCRS judging. In fact, we had a car presented just last week at the Lake Tahoe Regional with a state issued VIN tag and was perfectly acceptable.

I agree with VP. There was a mid year at the National with a similar situation.

Agree with Vinnie, leave the state issue vin tag if you replace it, it will open a big can of worms you may not want to have to deal with. Is the original trim tag still in place?
