The hood skin on my 66 coupe has separated from the "goop" on the brace. How can I fix this and what should I use.

Re: 66 Coupe Hood
Clean The existing glue real good. Go to your home improvement store and buy a tube of dap or other brand of roofing shingle sealer, separate the hood with a wedge put the sealer in all of the existing locations, close the hood and leave it closed and do not move the car for 24 hours. If you use any kind of bonding material it that hardens it will just pop the first time you close the hood, the factory used this same type of sealant. Cleaning is viral.- Top

Re: 66 Coupe Hood
John, Here's a link to an old thread on what to use. I've done several hoods using the product mentioned. It's far superior to what the factory originally used. https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...highlight=Hood- Top

Re: 66 Coupe Hood
I would use 3m 5200 / clean the area and squeeze in the 5200 / it will look as the original did and it will not fail if cleaned and applied as directed . Hope this helps / Jeff- Top
