1967 rag joint color

The JG says delivered from the factory painted black as a unit, but the picture shows the upper part of the rag joint not painted, what to do??????

Read the description again.... Gearbox and rag joint came as an assembly, both raw (unpainted) and painted black. If the box is black the rag joint will be painted black. If the gearbox is raw then the rage joint is NOT painted. In both cases you may find some paint marks......

My steering box is painted, so my rag joint is painted, but at a NCRS meet I got dinged because they said the top half of the rag joint was not suppost to be painted???

Could it be that the top half of the rag joint came already installed on the steering shaft and was not painted from that supplier????? Then the shaft would also not be painted......
