Re: Lifting my 62 327?
I've got a lift plate that is drilled for multiple carb base plate patterns(both 2bbl and 4bbbs). just lay the plate over the 4 studs in the intake (including aluminum) , thread the nuts and you're ready to lift. I realize its frightening pulling on four 5/16 studs threaded in the aluminum intake, but I've done it multiple times. I was given the plate over 40 years ago by friend who owned a junk yard outside of morgantown w.va but I think Jeggs./summit types may sell such a plate. or you could fabricate one. use the carb to intake gasket as template for the plate u fab. mike- Top

Re: Lifting my 62 327?
If the body is on the car you might want to take distributor off, it sometimes gets hung up on firewall if tranny is going in at same time. The assembly goes in at a pretty steep angle. No matter what bolt holes you use aa engine leveler makes for a much easier job!- Top

Re: Lifting my 62 327?
I don't see why it would hurt to remove the bolts from the intake manifold. Unless you used thread sealant on them when you first installed and torqued them. And you should have used thread sealant on them because oil from the lifter galley will migrate up the threads and leave little pools of oil, especially the center ones under the carburetor. I suppose if you did originally use thread sealant that you could clean the bolts threads and head holes and apply new sealant.
And the JG doesn't want you using washers under those bolts. So every time you install them, you can scratch the manifold.- Top

Here is a picture of an engine lift bracket like Mike mentioned.
Nice to see another 340hp going together.
Best of luck on your project.Attached Files- Top
