    Re: Battery charging procedure

If you have a newer Corvette with hard to replace electronics, the switch should be open with the maintainer directly connected to the battery.

I'm not sure if a knob style shut off switch would protect from a lightning strike. Best to have a whole house surge protector for this. I learned this expensive lesson the hard way.

I've had good luck over many years with my C2 and Ci keeping a Battery Tender Plus connected to battery poles with battery blade switch in open-disconnected mode. One time i didn't have battery tender connected and not driving the car for several months, the battery went dead and couldn't be revived.

I agree with Mark a knob type disconnect will not provide adequate protection. I am a blade fan as it gives you a gap of almost two inches.
Whole house surge protectors do a good job when installed correctly and well-grounded for surges entering through the electric service entrance.
This is not always the case. I guess I am just a little over protective.
