1960 Steering Help.. Sector Shaft, bearing, and end cap?..

Got the steering box apart and found some surprises.. some rust on bearings, which will be all repalced.. What concerns me is the scoring on the sector shaft, on both sides as pictured below.. It seems to be in the same area of the shaft on opposite sides.. Is this going to cause me a problem if i reuse this shaft, if so, what are my options.. can this be reworked, or does it need to be replaced?




I did order the rebuild kit from corvette central, and will replace the bearing. i guess this may explain why my steering bound up at times..



Also i see some score marks in the end cap, and wondering with the next shaft with worm gear, if this is something that need addressing..

Those marks on the sector shaft appear to have been made by a pair of pliers.

Thanks. Could have been bubba! I believe the bearings will not come in contact with this area of the shaft but will double check before I reinstall this shaft.

Was able to finish the rebuild of the steering box and looking forward to getting it back in the car. Still ways to go on the suspension and i am going to take the opportunity to rebuild the T-10.
