Does anyone have a source for the felt seal that surrounds the compressor shaft? Just purchased a ceramic seal from NAPA but no felt wick was included. Will gladly purchase another seal with the felt if that is the only was to get it. Any sources?

You didn't give the application.
However, check this seal out.
I have not idea if it's correct but here is the link.

Re: Felt seal for air compressor (air condition)
sorry for not listing the useage but you both guessed correctly. Ordered one from e-bay a few moments ago and thanks for helping out. The liittle felt seal plays an important part in protecting the shaft and keeping the snout of the compressor clean. Not sure why the NAPA seal did not include it. Napa does not list the seal under automobile parts but rather under agriculture equip. since the A6 compressor is used on farm equipment. Also on some aircraft I think. Thanks for the help in locating a Delco.- Top

Re: Felt seal for air compressor (air condition)
John,
The hobby craft stores have felt in sheets. I have used the felt to make the oil filter element in my old British bikes, but they can be used in the A6. They are a bit thinner.
A tip is to polish the clutch hub so it will not bunch up the felt as you pull the hub onto the shaft. I clean the front cover that the felt go's into and I apply contact glue to the felt, then slid it in while the glue is wet, then hold the felt with a tube against the cover. A deep well socket will work.
The reason I do that is that I have seen the felt smashed against the ceramic seal.
You don't have to do that but it can be a area for failure. Also I might add, that some rebuilders do not use the felt.

Re: Felt seal for air compressor (air condition)
Forgot to say that I use 3M contact cement and it sticks using it wet in about a hour to be safe, silicone sealer also works but that takes to long to stick the felt.
Again you don't need to do that but there is no way to know if the hub clutch has grabbed the felt and is smashing it against the front seal.
