Around 8 years ago I purchased from a fellow enthusiast a fully restored wiper motor for my 67. He had it restored by a very reputable restorer but never installed it. Over this winter I decided to pull my fully functional but unrestored wiper motor and replace it with the purchased restored unit. Once installed, I powered up the ignition and the wiper motor started immediately with the wiper dash switch in the off position. It runs in the low speed mode. I turned the wiper dash switch to the low speed position and the motor continued to run in low speed. I turned the switch to the high speed position and the motor runs at high speed. The motor will not shut off when the dash switch is turned to the off position. I reconnected my original wiper motor unit and it works fine and shuts off with the dash switch. I concluded that the dash switch is not the issue. My next step is to begin to partially disassembly the restored unit in an attempt to determine why power to the unit is not shut off when the switch is turned to the off position. I've never taken a wiper motor apart before. I'll crack the Chassis Service Manual for guidance. I suspect the issue is related to the relay control. Any help isolating the issue as well as help with what I should focus on would be appreciated.
thanks
