    69 Side Marker Retainer

What should be the finish on the side marker retainers on a 69? Maybe I'm overlooking it, but I don't see a reference to retainers in the TIMJG...just the lens, body and lamps.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I dip painted mine semi-gloss black.

I can't remember where I got that info from, but I've been quite diligent with the accuracy of my restoration(I've even had to rework some repop parts so that they matched the original parts they replaced). Rarely have I had to make an educated guess so either at least one of my retainers had remnants of black paint or I got the guidance from one of our fellow members.

Clean yours up really well to get all the old road grime off and you might still see some indication of what they looked like.

I have a 68 here tinkering with it. I looked at it late today. I can see remnants of black paint on them. So I think you would be safe following Greg's advice.
Another thing for the 68-69 TIM&JG....
