Re: 63-66 Steel Wheels - Factory Dipping - Kelsey Hayes or St Louis ??
It was a continuous process on a big loop overhead conveyor from where the wheels were unloaded from the rail car onto the conveyor, went through the pre-cleaning, phosphating, prime, and color stages, through the ovens, and back to the starting point. That line never stopped except for lunch or a breakdown. The actual oven lengths for the Corvette wheel line were about 65 feet for the prime oven and 50 feet for the enamel oven.
