while looking at a friends unrestored 65 Chevelle L79 I realized there fuel line set up looks way better then what the Corvette used. Does anyone know why?

that air cleaner off the chevelle looks like it might interfere with the corvette 45 degree fitting and rubber hose. perhaps thats why the chevelle has what appears to be a factory steel inlet to carb line. mike- Top

Mike I would think the Corvette air cleaner base would clear the Chevelle steel fuel line. just seems odd that the Corvette got a rubber hose and the Chevelle got a chromed steel line- Top

Re: 65 Chevelle L79 fuel line VS Corvette L79/L76 fuel line
Keith, Did the Chevelle also have a "Fuel Filter" bolted to the intake manifold? 65 Corvette 350 HP has the fuel filter bolted to intake manifold with a steel line from fuel pump to fuel filter, then a rubber hose from a 90 degree fitting in fuel filter to a "Banjo" fitting on the carburetor.
I have always wondered why GM would use a rubber hose on top of an engine that if cut could cause a major fire very quickly?

Re: 65 Chevelle L79 fuel line VS Corvette L79/L76 fuel line
Keith, Now I see, the filter & Line from Fuel pump are identical, The steel Chevelle line should fit by changing the 90 degree hose fitting at the fuel filter exit to a 90 degree 5/16 flair fitting & replace the "banjo" fitting on the Carb with a straight 5/16th flare fitting. Only problem could be interference with the Corvette Air Cleaner base & the Chevelle steel line? Barry- Top
