C2 Judging Question re; Interior Color

I have a restored 1966 Mosport Green Vette. I believe that it is factory original in almost every aspect with the exception of the interior color which is white. I love the white interior but I know that Mosport green only came with either black or dark green. My question is how many points would I loose during judging. I really don't want to put out $3K to have the interior changed out, only to have to change it back after judging. Especially since my wife loves the white.

    Thanks for any info

If you like your white interior, don't change it for flight judging. To know how many points will be deducted for changed color, go to the bottom of this page and see the link 'Judging Score Sheets' in the far right column of links. Click it and find the 63-67 Score sheets. Print them out. Then judge your own car. Deduct 50% for Originality for all parts of your Interior that are affected. Good luck.

Altered interior is addressed by Standard Deduction Guideline #7. A change of Interior Color or Fabric would warrant a 50 % deduction on every item affected by the alteration. An item exhibiting both color and fabric change would receive a 100% deduction for that item.

As Don noted, refer to the Interior judging sheets for your year car. In your case, white vinyl seats would be a 50% deduction for Originality, while white leather seats would be a 100% deduction for Originality. A 100% Originality deduction would also loose all condition points.

You noted either "black or dark green seats" in your original post. Your Trim Tag will identify what color originally came with your car. In either case, original fabric was vinyl.

+1 for Don's comment not to change for Flight Judging.

I agree with Don and Dave, don't change if it is what YOU like! Go ahead and have it judged, if the rest of the car is correct I would see no reason why you couldn't make a Top Flight. Remember, you get 10 extra points for having a battery cut-off switch, NCRS window decal and a fire extinguisher. You can also receive up to 10% on your raw score for mileage points. Drive it and take the long way to get to the meet, that's what they are for, to drive and enjoy.

you never stated what the trim tag reads. the color combos in the charts are what styling recommended. a dealer could get any combo they wanted with a trim over ride

Re: C2 Judging Question re; Interior Color

The sixth edition of the 1966 "TIM&JG" shows what Chevrolet offered with outside colors on page 15. Another table on the next page shows the color of seats, carpet and dash for the various interior choices. Note the footnotes under those tables.

Like Keith, I believe the dealers were able to order combinations (exterior color and interior choices) not generally offered. Silver and red interior was an example of this. On the other hand, green and white wasn't a choice.

If you have a white garnish molding across the top of the dash, please know that in 1965 (red and white, blue and white, black and white) and 1966 (blue and white only, as code 450) such "white seat interiors" were made with the above dash garnish molding in the color of the dash, not white. This was done to avoid the glare from a white strip in that spot.

p.. s. I know of a car made the next day, also a green and green coupe.
