Dan- I believe it was the standard axle ratio with that engine... when ordered with the M21.
(NOTE: This is not my car, but feel free to email me if you want more particulars.)

Yes Jack the '65 finger tip facts bares that out. Same 3:70 gear was the factory standard when an optional gear wasn't ordered for the L76 and L84 too. But it does not appear to stipulate posi. One might think the L78 would follow suite with the 3:70 as the factory std gear. But the Finger Tip Facts Revision page lists the 3:36 as factory std. But it does stipulate posi.

The car you cite appears to have a 3:70 open dif with the AS code. The fact that it has an open dif with a 350hp engine is what I find interesting. Most open dif's I've seen were in base engine cars. Also when it can be shown that the original ordering buyer had to juggle options to fit a tight budget.

Dan- Just seeing an email from you... I'll continue offline (instead of potentially hijacking Mike's thread).

Apologies to the OP as we've swerved a bit off subject, but to your point Dan a picture of my diff in my '67 L79, M21 coupe. Built June 14. 3:70 open diffs were standard ratio with the L79 and M21 (in 1967).

Your absolutely right once again Jack. My apologies to the OP for Hijacking his thread. Also my bad I was referencing a '65 info for a '66 car.

Very good photo Leif, thanks. '67 Factory std. 3:70 w/close ratio, 3:36 w/wide ratio.

                C2 Power Teams

These charts don't address all the factory updates, but it should give you a decent representation of C2 Power Teams:
