    testing 69 coil that I just got

    Just got a used 270 delco coil today for my 69 L46 350. Before I started cleaning and painting, thought I would test it with my ohm meter in case I needed to return it. The seller said he didn't have a way to test it but will take it back if it doesn't work.

    Primary = Service manual 1.77 - 2.05 my coil 1.8 - 1.9
    Secondary = service manual 3,000 - 20,000 my coil 7,650

    Although it is within spec, the secondary seems on the low side. Anyone have experience that can tell me if this will be usable (adequate spark to run the engine)? Is this test adequate?

    I would put it in the car and try to run it, but I am not quite ready to start the engine yet.

    Thanks folks,

    Rich
