    Re: Gas prices

During our daily quarantine walk in Dallas I see at least one special interest car. Testrarossa, 427 Cobra, Pantera, Viper, Model A, 65 Riveria, 240Z. It's like walking to a cars and coffee. Folks are taking advantage of the Spring weather, light traffic and extra time. No vintage Corvettes though...

Used to drive through that area quite often when I was younger and working in the 4 boroughs, I exclude Staten Island because it was just to difficult to get there from out here on LI. My commute is still almost an hour, all in Suffolk county, but I don't miss traveling daily on the city streets at all.

At 25 bucks for a 42 gallon barrel of crude oil that's about 60 cents a gallon for the raw material. Add in transportation, refining, retailing, and taxes and there's no way you can make a reasonable profit selling gasoline for less than about a buck and a half a gallon.

A month ago when the country was "shut down" and demand for gasoline sank like a rock, refiners had way more "winter blend" fuel than they knew they could sell by May 1, which is the latest deadline for the various areas to switch to summer blend fuel that has lower Reid vapor pressure.

So apparently some refiners and distributors are dumping fuel at a loss while they seek waivers from the bureaucracy to keep selling their winter blend inventory past the May 1 deadline.

It's tough to find much info on this. The media is too busy hyping the coronavirus issue and bashing the president. To paraphrase President Roosevelt: All we have to fear is the mainstream media and left wing politicians.

BTW close to 3 million Americans die every year from all causes. No. 1 is cancer, about, 700K, then heart disease, about 500K, followed by accidents of all type from car crashes to drowning in the bathtub, and the regular seasonal flu takes out 20-60K a year, most of whom are aged or have underlying medical conditions or both. I recall reading that 2017 was a particularly lethal flu season.

So that's close to 8000 Americans dying every day from all causes.

Now it's very clear that the "models" were way off base in terms of the number of infections, hospital beds and respirators required, deaths... , and were drastically changed in as little as less than a week when real data became available. You know what other hysteria is based on "models"? Climate Change!!! But it will take decades to get real data. Ask any real physicist. If you can't PROVE your theory, it's philosophy, not physics!

I tired of this sh...t. I'm fed up with philosophers disguised as scientists and their political hack followers that just love to control us telling us to stay home, wear face masks, and eat dirt. Yes, life will be a little risker, especially for seniors like me with underlying medical conditions, but let me evaluate and manage the risk myself, and the same for everyone else.

It's time to get the country back to normal before we fall into another great depression. The government can't keep printing money and sending it to us much longer before the whole house of cards collapses.

Dang Duke, you took the words right out of my mouth, spot on! And I just returned from my twice monthly grocery shopping trip, seniors hours of course, and took off my Hazmat gear when I read this. I was thinking, how long can this kind of life continue?

Duke don't forget the million abortions in this country alone. Abortion clinics open health clubs closed. Pot stores open Cigar stores closed and on and on.....
