But....based on Noland's conclusion that these pieces were added around VIN 4300, one of the '57s wouldn't have had them, the other close enough to be questionable. Suggest the OP check his doors for rivet holes in the bottom per Rich's suggestion in post #10 referencing the AIM drawings in post #8. In any case, if there's no damage to the doors indicating a need for removal it doesn't make sense to remove them for plating. They were aluminum, therefore not likely plated or even anodized. I'm betting they were never there on either car. Can't help on how the channels & post were installed but my VIN 8XX didn't have the reinforcements. I can't access it right now to determine how the channel & post were mounted but the AIM shows several screws at the upper edge of the door. Those dwgs revised/created around June/July '57.
