1966 grille bracket and rivets

How exactly does the bracket be riveted to the grille on a 1966? <br />
What way do the rivets have to be installed and how exactly will the bracket be attached. Upper and lower leg? The AIM shows the lower leg clearly below the grille. Does the upper leg really go inside the visible grille? In the technical discussions I have not found a biunique answer.

I just re-riveted mine a couple weeks ago to correct something I did years ago when installing an NOS grille (pop riveted it). The tabs on the brackets go to the outside both on top and bottom of each side. ie the upper tab goes over and the lower tab goes under. The button heads of the rivets go to the inside of the grille. Used an aero tool rivet setter on the solid rivets which were obtained from LICS.
