    NCRS tank sticker authentication

If the NCRS authenticates a tank sticker, is there any type of verification that can be implied for the VIN number in the authentication certificate?

Does the sticker verification process include some type of specific matchup between the ident code and the VIN number?

Eric, did you ever find an answer to this question?

I have a tank sticker (supposedly) from my car that shows an L71/M21 but I don't have a matching number block or any other way to prove they belong together.

I found the info. The short answer is : there IS a proprietary list that matches up the identification code, and the Vin number. However, it is held by the NCRS, and you must request the authentication certificate, to be verified.

Somewhat. On the sheet in the upper left corner is IDENT #. This number also exists on the Shipping Data Report sheet for that vin held by NCRS.

If the two IDENT #'s match, this indicates that the Tank Sheet is valid, and all RPO option data, colors, etc on it, are now considered authentic.

The SDR has NO RPO, Color data. Only the build date and dealer and IDENT#, and of course the Vin#.

P.S. Same process is used on pre-67 Window Stickers, which has its IDENT# on upper right corner.

Eric, I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Part of the validation process is confirming that a submitted document belongs to the VIN of the specific car in your request. We will not validate a stand alone document without a vehicle VIN accompanying the document to be sure they belong together.
