Re: Sharkhide Metal Protectant
Just wipe it on with a rag. It does not leave a an oily film. They suggest using two coats, just so you don't miss spots. It seems to be truly invisible. I had resprayed the grille black-out areas with SEM trim black. I wiped the Sharkhide over that too. Initially I thought that was a mistake, since it seemed to react and made the paint a little gooey, but fortunately it dried smooth. The FAQ (attached) suggests that it can protect some paints. It can be removed with lacquer thinner, so I guess it is lacquer based. Here's a link to FAQ. http://www.sharkhide.com/faq.htm- Top

Re: Sharkhide Metal Protectant
Bob,
I don't think the brand of oven cleaner matters. I finished a can of ZEP that I had in the house, and then bought a can of Easy Off because that's what my local hardware store carried. I didn't notice a difference between the brands. I sprayed the entire grill. It took a couple rounds, and then I still had a few stubborn spots that I had to redo. You'll have to experiment, but I found that it's best to spray the oven cleaner on heavy, and then walk away for at least a half hour. After letting the oven cleaner soak for a while, I used a combination of scotchbrite and 00 steel wool to scrub with the oven cleaner. My grille is aluminum, which I found to be very forgiving ... I even used fine sandpaper to minimize a few minor gouges. I was then able to polish out the sanding scratches with the 00 steel wool, and finally with mag polish. For the mag polish, I used a cloth wheel in my angle grinder (see pic), but mostly just elbow grease and rags. Hope this helps.

Re: Sharkhide Metal Protectant
the first thing you have to do is clean whatever your working on.
then degrease it , wear nitrile gloves apply sharkhide protectant. a couple of times if you want
Sharkhide will penetrate the steel and dry, with no film or stickiness. Only sticky when your applying it you work too slow.- Top

Re: Sharkhide Metal Protectant
Hello;
Used Sharkhide on our Pontoon boats to stop hard water and living things from adhering to the aluminum.
Great product, lasts for years.
Need to follow installation instructions. Surface must be sterile clean. It can be LPHV sprayed or wiped on. Extremely toxic until dry.
Interested in hearing from someone who has used it on cast iron.
RayAnd when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
