1966 Coupe Rear Window Installation - Blocks and Spacers

Have a question regarding the rear window blocks and spacers on a 66 Coupe. I've looked through the Service Manual and also have some pics I took of the locations of the blocks/spacers back when I was disassmbling things for the new paint job.
No doubt there's been some 'shrinkage' of those blocks over the years but some are about 1/16th inch taller than the old ones I removed. Pretty sure someone has worked on that back window at some point prior to '89 when we bought it but just want to hear if there's a problem with the current blocks or spacers due to their being a bit bigger than the originals. New Blocks/Spacers are in the top row in the first pic, right row in second pic.
    Thanks,IMG_4514.jpgIMG_4515.jpg

Re: 1966 Coupe Rear Window Installation - Blocks and Spacers

Got a new wrinkle on the Blocks and Spacers. Check out the pic. Some of the existing spacers, the ones I refer to as spacers that are thinner than the 'blocks', have been noticeably 'trimmed down'. When I had my neighbor up this afternoon, he was interested in my rear window installation as he has a 66 425 Horse Coupe that needs the rear window installed. When you see the pic, you'll notice the new spacer sitting between two of the old/existing spacers. Now, the 3M Windo-Weld 5/16 Butyl Tape I've ordered would have a hard time sitting 'above' the new spacer. Looks like someone obviously trimmed them down. The guess is that they did that so the Butyl Rope would be attached above the spacer and not have to overlap the spacer. Anyone care to comment?
    Thanks,IMG_4532.jpg

      Mike,
I did my 67 coupe last year. The first time I used the spacers and the blocks with a 3/8" tape kit. I could not get all the mouldings to seat properly.
I talked to a friend who had owned a glass shop for many years, he told me he never used the spacers only the blocks and to use the 5/16" tape kit.
I had done one 40 years ago and had no problems using both spacers and blocks as I recall, but don't remember what tape kit though.
I did mask the glass opening and mark the location of each moulding clip, then dry fitted the glass and marked it up so it could be located properly for the final install.
      Kind regards

Peter - thanks for the feedback. It's all good info and I want to hear all comments before I begin the project. My last entry has a pic of the old/existing spacers and the new versions with the new versions quite a bit taller than the old ones. More likely, that is the right height but someone, in the past, decided to cut them down. My guess is so there was room for the butyl rope. Today I'll be test fitting the stainless trim and then once I borrow the suction cups from my neighbor, I'll be doing a test fit of the old rear window to see how it all lines up.
