C4 Bose Amps

Well I never thought this would ever happen but my wife and I bought a 94 coupe last week. Its a basic one with LT1 and auto but sure is fun and we love it! We would love it even more though if all the speakers worked.

The pass rear amp isn't working and just puts out a steady hum/whine. I tried another speaker that I had and it sounded the same. I swapped the rear speaker amp assys and the fault followed so I'm pretty sure it's just the amp.

So does anyone here have much experience with this generation of Bose amps? I've done some looking and haven't been able to find a replacement so I was wonder if other GM vehicles from the era would have an amp that would work. Does anyone know of a Bose amp interchange reference? I realize that these are Corvette specific but I'll bet that a similar one would work just fine for my ears. If not then does anyone repair or have an exchange service for these amps? The pic is of my amp for ref.

Greg, I did a search for a friend a couple of weeks ago with the same problem. Check out rpidesigns.com, looks like they have what you need for less than $150.

Thanks John, that's a good start. I also found out of another source in FL that does it for around $50 and then I found some videos for actually repairing the amps for the cost of the capacitors and the time it will take. That might be fun, or a waste of time...

Greg, welcome to the world of C4's...you did good. I have owned 4 of them, couldn't enjoy life w/o one.
