    1993 40th Anniversary Edition ECM

Where can I get my 1993 40th Anniversary Edition (Not a ZR1) ECM repaired or replaced? I have been looking for a while but no real luck. I am told that the 1992 and 1993 have a different ECM than other C4s. Please Help, I am starting to go through withdrawals.

The original ECM was GM #16173861 with a SERVICE number of 16159278. It was last available from GM under GM #88999183 but it's discontinued. You may be able to still get it, though, through Delco dealers or from Rock Auto. All units available through GM or Delco were officially "remanufactured" and carry a core charge. Also, understand that these old ECMs contain an eProm. This must be removed from your original ECM and transferred to the replacement unit.

Otherwise, try autoecms.com. They may either have these units in stock on an exchange basis or be able to rebuild yours.

One other thing. If originality is important to you, I recommend that you remove the outer metal case from your original ECM and transfer it to the replacement unit. The downside of doing this is that the replacement case will likely have the rebuilder's information, rebuilder's part number and warranty information. So, if you swap metal cases, the information required for a warranty claim will be lost. To get around this you could just pay the core charge and keep your original. That way, if you needed a warranty return, you could just swap the remanufactured unit's case back on the unit. Of course, the core charge will likely be steep; probably in the $100+ range and likely even more from autoecms.com.
